Under pressure

Hello lovely amazing fantastic blog readers. And yes I do pretty much pinch myself every time I check my Google Analytics and see that I actually have blog readers. Real people read my blog, who’d have thought it?

I haven’t blogged in a little while, mostly because I was too busy enjoying extended birthday celebrations (see above) and also because I was rundown and caught a cold in the aftermath of said celebrations. Whoops.

The thing about blogging (for me anyway) is that once I’m on a roll with it, it’s great. I can post a few times a week and I feel amazing. But as soon as I miss a post or two I feel the pressure. I guess it’s a little like going to the gym, the more you go, the more you want to. But as soon as you stop it becomes hard to find the motivation. You don’t see the point and you forget how much you enjoyed it. Well, blogging is much more enjoyable than the gym, but it also requires hard work, time and effort.

I wish I had more time to dedicate to my blog. I look at full-time bloggers and I feel like I could do amazing things with my blog too, if only I had more hours in the day. But then I consider the life of a full-time blogger and I know I couldn’t spend the whole week at home alone, trying to motivate myself. Without working and going about my daily life I think I’d lose inspiration quickly. Plus, I feel bad enough when I waste time in the evenings and weekends that could be spent writing – imagine having that pressure all the time.

So I guess the point of this post was to start being more honest, with myself and with my readers. I’m going to try and take the pressure off a little bit, which will hopefully result in more frequent (but perhaps shorter) posts. At the moment I feel like I need to ensure every post is up to the high standard of a full-time blogger or online magazine. This is my blog and ‘my place on the internet’, I think I’d do well to remember that. Hope you don’t mind.

If you have any thoughts on what you’d like to read on here, or would like to share your blogging experience, I would love to hear it. Because after all, as much as I’m doing this for myself and to read back on it later etc etc, having someone tell you that they read your blog is the best thing ever.

You can contact me, comment below or find me on Twitter (I’m fluctuating around 600 followers, so if you follow me that would make my day, I’m a loser I know) and I’ve also written a few posts for Wonder magazine so check those out over there.
